Background
An existing client had recently secured investment into the company, and keen to use this as a stepping-stone to grow the loan book
To help plan for this growth period, the lender required a financial model to forecast future cashflows and plan their funding runway. However, their current model had grown out of an Excel file built for different usage, and therefore wasn’t fit for purpose
Our client required a new model that could project an accurate representation of the business, with plenty of flexibility to allow them to vary inputs, build different forecast scenarios, and truly understand the trajectory of the business
Model Build
The Vestigo team first held discussions with relevant stakeholders (both model users and consumers) to ensure all requirements were captured, understood, and agreed for the bespoke model build
Vestigo then built out the key forecasting mechanics of the financial model, namely the loan book and financing components
With this in place, the team built a flexible framework, including granular inputs and assumption layers – this allowed the client team to feed the model with actual loan book data, while flexing all of the levers necessary to build multiple forecasting scenarios
